Tournament Rules
Coaches please check in at the tournament office 45 minutes before your team’s first game.
- All Travel Permits and Official Rosters must be received prior to a team’s first game.
- OMHA Rules of Play and Demeanour apply.
- Each team is guaranteed 3 games.
- Games may start up to 15 minutes early.
- Team coaches will check in at least 30 minutes before each game to sign Gamesheet iPads.* Gamesheet iPads must stay in the Tournament Office. *
- All games in Round Robin Play, Semi-Finals, & Finals are 10-10-10 stop time periods.
- 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, and 0 points for a loss
- If there is a 5 goal spread in the 3rd period then running time will begin. It will revert back to stop time if the goal spread goes back to 3 goals. The clock will stop however if there is an injury. If a penalty occurs during running time a 2 minute penalty becomes a 3 minute penalty and a 5 minute penalty becomes a 7 minute penalty.
- In the case of a forfeit of a whole game, the game will be marked as 5-0 in favour of the team present and ready to play.
- Group Tiebreakers: First – Winner Head to Head Second – Highest Goal Percentage = Goals. For divided by (Goals For + Goals Against) Third - Lowest Tournament Penalty Minutes
- In the case of multiple teams tied for a seed, the seed in contention will be decided using the tie breaker rules. To decide the next seed, tie breaker rules are reset with remaining teams.
- Ice re-surfacing will take place at the end of games.
- Each Team in the Semi-Finals & Finals will have 1 x 30 second timeout.
- Semi-Final and Final Games, if tied, will be decided by a 3 on 3, 5 minute sudden victory overtime. If teams are still tied, there will be a 3 player per team shoot out. If the teams are still tied, players will continue the shootout, 1 player per team until 1 team scores and the other does not. All players on a team must shoot once before a player can shoot twice.
- All OMHA rules apply regarding suspensions for fighting, intent to injure, or bench staff being ejected. Use of Mouth Guards & Neck Guards is enforced for teams coming from associations that make the use of these as mandatory. Notify us in advance if this is not the case for your team.
- Teams, Bench Staff, and Parents will conduct themselves in a respectful manner to other Teams, Bench Staff, Parents, Game Officials and Tournament Officials.
- Anything not covered by OMHA rules or rules above will be decided by Tournament Officials.
- These are kids. This is a game. Let’s have fun.
